Let’s Be Honest. Hiring Trades Can Feel Like a Nightmare…
- You book time off work…. They don’t turn up.
- You clear the space…. They walk straight through the house in muddy boots.
- You ask for a quote…. You hear nothing back.
- The job starts…Then stalls. Or drags on. Or you’re left chasing answers.
- And if it’s your kitchen that’s out of action, the stress feels ten times worse.
Many homeowners approach trades with caution, and it’s easy to understand why — late arrivals, poor communication, unfinished jobs, and homes treated like building sites are all too common.
When you’ve already invested a serious amount of your hard-earned money into your dream kitchen, the uncertainty of choosing the wrong installer, or having it fitted incorrectly, can result in unwanted stress and quickly become a very expensive mistake.

What’s Included in Your Kitchen Installation
Kitchen installation should feel complete and clearly defined — not open to interpretation.
Here’s what’s included as standard:
- Full Kitchen Installation
All kitchen units installed correctly and securely, including cabinets, doors, panels, plinths, cornice and end panels.
- Laminate or Timber Worktop Installation
Laminate and timber worktops are installed as part of the kitchen installation, including accurate cutting, jointing and fitting.
- Preparation for Solid Surface Worktops
Where solid surface worktops are being supplied, the furniture is installed correctly, using a laser level for accuracy and reinforced where required in preparation for templating.
A return visit is planned as part of the process once the worktops have been fitted to install sink, tap & hob etc.
- Appliance Installation
Ovens, hobs, extractors, dishwashers and integrated appliances fitted as part of the install.
Connection to existing power supplies within 1 metre of the appliance is included.
- Sink & Tap Installation
Sinks and taps are fitted neatly and connected to existing water and waste services located within the kitchen.
If new pipework or service alterations are required, this would be discussed separately before work begins.
- Minor On-Site Adjustments
Scribing, levelling and fine adjustments carried out during installation so everything lines up properly.
- One Planned Return Visit
One return visit is included to install any remedial or missing items identified during the installation process.
What’s Not Included in the Installation Price
Supply of the kitchen or appliances
Installation only — all units, appliances, and worktops are supplied separately.
New electrical or plumbing work
Any new wiring, pipework, or alterations to existing services outside the immediate kitchen area.
Building works
Including plastering, structural alterations, wall removal, boxing-in, or making good beyond the immediate installation area.
Flooring installation or removal
Existing flooring removal and new floor fitting are not included unless agreed separately.
Wall preparation or decoration
Painting, tiling, wallpaper removal, or making good walls beyond minor fitting adjustments.
Waste and debris removal
Removal of old kitchens, units, appliances, and general waste from site should be arranged separately.
Additional visits beyond those planned
Extra return visits not included in the agreed scope.
If you’re unsure whether something’s included, just ask…. It’s always easier to clarify things upfront than deal with surprises later.
How the Installation Process Works
Designed to keep things clear, structured, and predictable.
1. Get your instant online estimate
A quick set of questions gives you a realistic starting price.
2. Initial deposit & site visit
A 20% deposit secures a site visit to check access, services and practical details.
3. Installation scheduled
Once everything is confirmed, a further 30% deposit secures your installation date in the diary.
4. Installation begins
Arrival times are confirmed, floor protection is applied, and the installation starts as planned.
5. First fix completed
Once the first phase of the installation is complete, the remaining 50% balance becomes due.
6. Final visits completed
Any planned return visits — including following solid surface worktop installation or fitting of remedial items — are carried out to complete the installation.
You’re kept informed throughout, so you always know what’s happening next.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a kitchen installation usually take?
Most kitchen installations take between 3 and 7 working days, depending on the size of the kitchen and what’s involved. This doesn’t include additional time for solid surface worktops, which require templating and a return visit once manufactured.
You’ll be given a clear idea of timings before work begins.
Do you supply kitchens or appliances?
No — Fit & Fix specialises in installation only. This keeps the focus firmly on getting your kitchen fitted properly, without any conflicts of interest.
If you do need help sourcing a kitchen or appliances, our sister company, German Kitchens Cardiff, would be more than happy to help.
How accurate is the online estimator?
The estimator is designed to give you a realistic installation price based on your kitchen layout and appliances.
Before work starts, your kitchen design or item list is checked to make sure everything’s been included correctly. If anything needs adjusting, it’s discussed and agreed upfront.
When do I need to pay?
The payment structure is simple and clearly defined:
20% deposit to secure a site visit
30% deposit to secure your installation date
50% balance due on completion of the first fix stage
You’ll always know what’s due and when.
What happens if something’s missing or delayed?
If any items are missing or arrive late, this is picked up early and planned for. One return visit is included to fit remedial or missing items, so the installation can be completed properly.
Nothing is rushed or bodged just to “get it finished”.
Will my home be protected during the installation?
Yes.
Floor protection is applied before work starts, and the team works cleanly and tidily throughout. Respect for your home isn’t optional — it’s standard.
Who will be coming into my home?
All installers are DBS checked, and you’ll always know who’s attending and when.
The team is clean, polite, professional, and respectful — no smoking, swearing, or loud behaviour.
What if something isn’t included?
If you’re unsure whether something’s included, just ask.
Anything outside standard installation is discussed and agreed before work begins, so there are no surprises later.
Is there any obligation after using the estimator?
No.
The estimator is there to give you clarity, not lock you into anything. You’re free to use the information and decide how — or if — you’d like to proceed.
